About Us
Catton Fields Radio is what happens when three blokes want to sit around on a Monday night and talk about Bearded Theory over a few beers.
The three of us, Craig, Paul and Stephen, came together on the way to the now defunct Sonisphere Festival way back in 2010 and we soon discovered we had a common love for all things festival and all things music. The fact that another of the running themes of beer reared its head had nothing to do with this meeting of minds.
At the time Craig was presenting a radio show on a local community radio station in West Yorkshire, alongside his co-host Mr Tee Liburd. The show was dedicated to new music from around the world. The show was broadcast on alternate weeks with a third host filling in the opposite week.
It was around this time that the host of the opposing weeks show decided to call it a day and the dynamic duo were separated and took a week each.
Whist Tee remained with the world music theme, Craig's week morphed into a new music and local music show. It was also at this point where Facebook became more important in the shows content with listeners regularly using the platform to make requests (which were either played and talked through or just totally ignored depending on who requested it)
A few guest co-hosts were invited on, some of whom became more permanent than others. Following a relocation and other outside commitments the show was taken over by one of the guest co-hosts and Wednesday nights became a lot less entertaining (for us at least).
This is where Catton Fields Radio was born. Basically, we missed doing radio and we wanted to share our love of all things bearded, we were hooked from walking into the field at Kedlestone Hall and we still are today, however location proved a challenge, with Craig living in the north and Paul and Stephen in the south, but through the joy that is the internet this wasn’t a challenge for long, especially as two of us work in IT, and Catton Fields Radio hit the World Wide Web. What better way to spread the love than to do something that we love and hopefully people will join us for the ride.
So that is how we got to where we are today. Still three drunk blokes spouting rubbish about things Bearded Theory, music and beer.
We can’t thank you listeners, both old and new, enough for coming along for the ride and sharing the joy with us.
Thanks to the Tea Bird for working her Twitter magic in the background, having replaced the Tea Boy who failed to supply us with tea and wagon wheels.
We thank you for all you help and support and for bringing a smile to our faces with your comments and joining in with the inane piffle that is Catton Fields Radio.
A special thank you must go to our wives and families for putting up with and supporting us. It must be interesting to find out what state they will get us back in after a show.
